What is a Path forward

A Path Forward is an exhibit that explores Truth & Reconciliation in Prince Edward County and highlights the shared past, present, and future of Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in The County.

The information shared within this space prioritizes Indigenous voices and perspectives. As a permanent and evolving exhibit, A Path Forward is co-curated in partnership by Tsi Tyónnheht Onkwawén:na and The County Museums and is recognized as a Legacy Space by the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund. Here you will find contemporary Indigenous works of art and story, interspersed with a non-static historical narrative, to create a space for reflection, education and guidance on our path forward, together.

The path to reconciliation is not paved with grand gestures, or the removal of every colonial statue. It is millions of actions, open listening, and actively rebuilding relationships. It is acknowledging the truth of a place’s past and embracing its present, while working toward building a better future for Indigenous and non-Indigenous residents together.

We hope that A Path Forward, as a living representation of the Prince Edward County community’s reconciliation efforts, will reflect this.
